House Check: A Travel Story

Some of my favourite content ideas start with something very simple.

For this one, it was a shirt.

The DAKS House Check is one of those instantly recognisable designs, and I loved the idea of taking it outside the usual fashion setting and allowing it to become part of a wider travel story.

Rather than creating everything around one location or one shoot, the concept was to take the same House Check shirt with me as I travelled, photographing it in different places, different light and different moments along the way.

The shirt became the constant. The destination changed around it.

From city streets to Mediterranean colour, architecture, cafés and everyday details, each location gave the same piece a slightly different personality. The result feels somewhere between fashion content and a travel diary. Product-led, but still atmospheric and spontaneous.

That is something I’m increasingly interested in within my content work: finding ways to place a product naturally within an experience rather than simply photographing the product itself.

It also means the story doesn't necessarily have an ending.

Another destination can become another chapter.

The House Check traveller continues…
